Oz has officially been with me a week! He’s eaten, pooped, and passed urates. I’ve kept handling to a minimum thus far but I will begin increasing the frequency and/or duration a bit now that I feel he is getting settled.
I absolutely love his curious personality. He will stretch his body straight toward the top of my head to try to climb me like a treeHe is very different in demeanor from any other snake I have previously kept. He is not necessarily defensive, but he is a little jumpy if I make sudden movements, and in general he seems to be more prone to speedy slithering than my laid-back ball pythons and boas have been; however, I have no doubt he will grow out of that as he continues to acclimate to his setup and gains size. I’ve begun hook training him by gently stroking him with a small snake hook before I get him out for handling or cage maintenance.
Definitely looking forward to expanding my collection with more Morelia in the future.
