Two heat mats needed for plastic tub set up?

I'm having the same issue. I ended up with a tub with two separate heat mats, but I still can't get the ambient temperature up much at all. How do you raise the ambient without making the mats hot enough to burn her?

Heat mats don't raise the ambient temperature in the whole enclosure, they just create a hot spot on the floor. If you put a hide on each hot spot the ambient under the hide will bump up a few degrees, much like if you use an electric blanket under you in bed. It doesn't warm the room but it keeps you warm under the covers.
