First bite (at inopportune time)
So my dad and stepmom are visiting us in IN for the first time. They know we have snakes and like them in the "they're cool but please keep some distance" kind of way.
Without checking our feeding calendar (big mistake), I decided to bring out Arya because she's out and about, is neat looking, and is small. Perfect snake ambassador to win over my family, right?
I got her out and rather than relax like she normally does, she kept her head very still on my hand and almost pushing down with her chin. Something about her posture made me think, "Uh oh, I'm about to get bit." And sure enough, she got a good handful of the back of my hand and constricted my wrist!
I gave her a couple of minutes to see if she was going to let go but ultimately had to use a drop of rubbing alcohol - was all I could find. I wish I had gotten a pic of the actual bite because it was pretty funny to see this little snake convinced she was going to eat my hand. Turns out she's due to be fed tomorrow.
Thankfully my family stayed calm after I reassured them I was fine. But I'm not sure if they'll hold any snakes while they're here now. Thanks, Arya.
