I’m going to paint them with some kind of waterproofing what should I use?

I wouldn't, some products can take weeks to cure or finish offgassing.

If the tanks are losing too much heat through the glass walls you can just wrap the outside with Styrofoam insulation sheet. If the tank is leaking a bead of silicone caulk should work to seal it.
