Im so shiny
Why do you guys let me go to shows?
I went to san diego super show today. We had no intention of buying. A few of the vendors are people we know, are friendly with, have done business with, etc.
We found one of them and talked. Someone was looking at an enchi orange dream. They didn't buy him. We picked up on the snake. Moms proud of herself. Well, in the future i can potentially make some super orange dreams with my pastel od female. Hes cute and calm. He is currently still unnamed, though mom keeps saying Flower, cuz his nose has a marking of a flower in her opinion.
Anyway. Onto my favorite purchase, yes yes i adore balls ill always love them, but.... i also have an intense love for the larger snake species. Burmese, retics, indigos, carpets, boas, you name it, i like it. I do prefer pythons more than boas usually however, but boas are cool too. He is not a ball python. He is a male. Yes ive done extensive research yes i can afford him yes i have room before anyone asks. He is a lavender golden child reticulated python. He is 4 feet and his personality is so far to die for. Though every time we go into the store, hes always awesome personality. He was offered for sale this show, and mom got to talking about him with the owner whom we've bought from before (mums tri color hog and a few boas). We walked away with the retic. I have a good sized terrarium already with set up accessories from when i was going to buy from a friend who sold the retic out from under me. And when he gets larger, i already have contact for a custom enclosure. His name is Tamatoa. Brownie points to whoever knows what thats from
Both new ones are in quarantine. They are both from the same shop, though different owners (co-owned shop between like 5 guys). I trust them, but id quarantine from my own mothers stock. Can never be too safe, right?
Yes i put a retic in this thread in bp pics, i didnt want to flood bp.net with two posts from same person within 5 minutes of each other. Ill do a progress post for Tamatoa individually though at some point.
Horrible mess i swear. Nearly every show, i leave with something. Im so very fortunate to have a job that can support them, i have the space (and supplies/food/racks), time, and an exotic vet nearby in case anything goes wrong. Nobody goes without attention, nobody goes without food, everyone is changed regularly, waters changed every day, temps are monitored on the daily just in case of discrepancies. I find myself very fortunate to get to do this.
