Not really an introduction, as much as it is a reintroduction!
I was a member of this site back in the mid-early 2000's.
I had a pretty extensive herp collection, and went on hiatus right before my first child was born (dec 2008). I rehomed my collection with the exception of my cats, who have since crossed the rainbow bridge regrettably.
I had another child born in 2011, and she is now 7 years old going on 17, and had wanted a snake for the longest time (it must be genetic? i dont know). Anyways, we (her mom and I) figured it would wear off like most other interests of my children, but no - it persisted steadily for 18 months.
Anyways, a few weeks ago, we got her a yellow belly ball python, which she fondly named Neke.

So far he has been incredible! When I got him, (I bought him from a friend that owns a pet store that deals with exotics) - the pet store owner told me that he came from a local breeder. He is captive bred, but there was another snake that had some mites. This snake did not -appear- to have any, but was given an skin oil treatment to be safe. I was warned that it would result in a bad shed the first time, but he will be fine after that.
Right now, he is ~270g and eating great. He usually eats frozen no problem. He has only had to eat live once, and that was his first feeding after bringing him home!
Glad to be back
