CHE Directly on the mesh?

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, or it has an obvious answer, but I just wanted to know if you can safely put the CHE directly on a mesh/screen top without a dome or so.

Or if you can put it in a dome/wire fixture and then put that directly on the screen top


I'm sorry for posting a bunch of questions, I just wanna do this right and can't seem to find some of the info i'm looking for
