I don't know if this is going to take off,but I figure it's worth a shot. Some threads surprise me.
Post a recipe you love or have have good luck with in the past! Vegetarian and vegan recipes welcomed as well of course.
Beef Pasties (otherwise known as a beef hand pie or cornish pasty)...very popular in the UP of Michigan, I use pre-made pie dough to save time although I'm sure this is a major sin to some people.
1lb ground beef sirloin (use decent quality beef if you can, or make your own using cold sirloin in a food processor)
1 sweet onion minced finely, any extra water squeezed out of it....food processor works great for this as well
1 large russett potato cubed into no larger than 1/2" cubes
1 rutabaga, softball sized, cubed into no larger than 1/2" cubes
1 tsp kosher salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
Two boxes of pre-made , thawed pie dough (Four rounds total)
1. Mix the first six ingredients in a large bowl
2. Cut the pie dough circles into even quarters (four pieces from each circle, you should now have 16 pieces total)
3. Evenly divide the filling onto eight of the pie dough sections
4.Place the leftover dough sections on top and seal the edges with a fork, poke the top of the pasties with a fork a few times to vent
5. Bake at 350F for an hour on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper (important), serve with ketchup or sour cream![]()
