Disgusting snake treatment at Batu Secret Zoo
Sorry for the long read.
So I'm currently in Batu, Indonesia with my family, and we went to this zoo. They have a "Reptile Garden" with tons of reptiles. I thought all was well when I went in, the monitors seemed healthy, so did the aquatic snakes. Geckos and lizards were doing fine. Then I got to the big snakes section. And man, is the treatment just... wrong.
This is a retic that they're keeping for show. Any semi-veterans should be able to tell what's wrong immediately. They're using a heat lamp and heat rocks, without ANY sort of humidity-raising tools. There are stuck shed on both of the retics... IN THE SAME TANK! And to think, this is a massively popular place to learn about animals, yet they treat these worse than pet stores here.
This is a blood python I found in here. Same problem as the retics, but this one is milder.
According to my brother (I was outside trying to get some fresh air), they went to feed a GTP a live large RAT, and they "fed" it by touching the GTP's snout with the mouse using pinsets repeatedly, to the point where the GTP actually struck the mouse DEFENSIVELY.
The enclosure for two Madagascar Tree Boa, with scattered pieces of shed everywhere. At least they don't have stuck shed like the retic and the blood python.
Last but not least: A boa constrictor, sorry, THREE boa constrictors, quite skinny and one of them with RI.
Just as a future reference, please visit this place if you want to see how NOT to keep a snake.
