    Odd habit...

Hello! So I have an odd situation and do not know if it's normal or not...

In April I discovered my snake had a URI. We treated him through the end of May. And during that time he did not eat at all.
When he was done with the treatments, I started offering small rats again- which is what he had been eating every other week since I had gotten him in February. Well he seemed very interested and even striked and constricted the rats but would never eat them. It looked like he tried to but just never did.
So i tried some medium mice- and he gobbled those up. So after a month of doing the mice I have tried with a small rat again- and for the last 30 min he has just carried it around and is attempting to eat it. But just isn't getting anywhere. I'm not sure what's going on? It's kinda strange.
Any advice would be great to hear. Or if anyone else has had this happen?

Update- he did not eat the rat. It appears he got about a 1/4 of it in his mouth then just spit it out and had no interest after that.

So I'm just clueless as to why after he had that upper respiratory infection that now he can't eat rats?
And are mice even nutritious? It almost seems as if he would rather eat something small. And those medium mice were very small compared to his size!!!
