    Question About Hides

So, I went to buy another hide from the store/breeder who sold me my BP last weekend, (250g little BP named Ripley), and the dude basically didn't want me to buy a second hide because he claimed that the snakes will just stay in the cool side and get a respiratory infection. I did enough research before I got her to realize that it seems like it's almost unanimously agreed on that you need hot/cool side hides. His argument was that he's been breeding snakes for years and doesn't use hides (which makes sense because he has an almost completely dark rack setup so the snakes would ALWAYS be hiding) so mine only needed one for her hot side. Not to be crass, but, I'm right in believing this is flat out crap, right? I went and bought an identical one anyway and just had it overnighted from Amazon just so I didn't have to argue with him over it. I manage to keep the temperature in the tub around 78-80d with some fluctuation based on the house temperature but never below the high 77's (77.8, etc.) so I don't think even if she spent all of her time in the cool side hide she'd be hitting RI levels. It's still winter here, basically so keeping it above 80 is pretty difficult, but I manage to keep it in the ballpark during the day.
