I got my first snake, he is a baby ghost python. I am concerned about treating him right and making sure he is healthy so I have a few questions. I am using a plastic box(a fairy big one) with holes on top. I got proper bedding laid out with 2 hide spots, one on each side. I am using an UTH to heat the warm side, and I have a fairy small water bowl in the middle. I have the plastic box in my closet in my room. I live in Arizona and I leave my apartment on room temperature during the day (72-74) and I have been putting the heater on at night to 76. My concern is that the warm side is too hot and the cold side is too cold... I understand what the ideal temperatures should be. I know that for the warm side, the ideal degrees is 90. His warm side has a few inchs that are 90 but in some parts it reach up to 100. I guess question #1 would be, is that okay? Will it balance out to be good for him? He seems to like the warm side. Now for the cold side i can't seem to get it warm enough, it's too cold... It's about 70-75 degrees. I understand that it needs to be 78-80.. What I did today before I left for work, I put a bath towel on all the holes on the cold side. I have no idea if that is going to work or not, so i guess my question #2 is how can i make the cold side about 5 degrees warmer? Is putting a towel over the holes Like i did a proper solution? Should I wet the towel or take it off? etc and question #3 would be for humidity I understand that a wet towel over the holes can also help with add humidity is that correct? Is just a water bowl good enough or how can i ensure proper humidity? Thank you to whoever reads this all
