HAHA I open the tub to come feed my ball python. He lived up to his name Jörmungandr! Like a undercover cop he had me up for a set up. I open his hide and right where i open it he is sitting on top of his hide. He immediately looks up at me, straight in the eye and gave me the personal message saying "ima cut u cuz". Immediately after that stare he lunged right at me and dropped from his hide in an attempt to Bruce Lee attack me using some flying bite maneuver. BTW I'm using TONGS and all i did was open the cage! I'm not even starving the little guy he get's a massive rat (relative to his size) every 5 days! I then put a glove on my other hand due to the fact the rat came loose when i dropped him and needed to reach in to grab it with tongs. He's chasing me throughout the container trying to eat my hand. Keep in mind he's trying to eat me in a way that could only be compared to when Chihuahuas try and mess a more massive dog up. He's lunging crazy at my hand while i grab his meal. While i'm bringing it up the rat is dangling high in the air no joke Jörmungandr climbs his hide and lunges at the rat constricting in mid air. Gotta love those bonding experiences you get when you raise a baby ball python up. Some of the best advice i ever got was to get a hatchling, i just love the little guy!
Scientifically though i think i activated the ball python instinctual ability to sit and weight in a high place for food. Me opening the cage made him believe i was a "rat" due to the vibrations. He was not biting out of aggression and was most defiantly chasing me throughout his enclosure until i finally got the rat back in the tongs.
P.S: I used a click bait title for this new experience so don't get your jimmies in a rustle about how harmless ball pythons are because Jörmungandr is 1 month old and 1 ft 4 inches.
