That's the remains of a key ring, after releasing a snake from it. If you let your snake investigate your sporran/purse/pocket, make sure you take your keys out first.
Fortunately, the heavy-duty dikes (side cutters) and pliers were handy, and my husband has the strength to cut the ring and pry it open, freeing his stuck BP. She had a couple dents (like from wearing shoes all day) but I don't think any scales were damaged. Husband also has dexterity.
