Nippy rtb, suggestions?
Hi,
I have a almost 6 month old, male rtb, that I've had for about 3 months. I let him settle in for a few weeks when I first got him and then started handling him. He's always been very squirmy, but never struck until now. I haven't handled him much in the last month, so I got him out today and he was striking me like crazy while I held him, mostly turning and striking himself on accident. He did calm down after awhile, although still very squirmy. I know part of his behaviour is attributed to not being handled much, but part of me worries that he'll always be this way and this is my first large boa that I chose due to their good temperaments. I have a hog island boa and a columbian rainbow boa that have always been sweethearts, so I've never had to deal with this. Any words of encouragement or advice would be great.
As a side note, I have him in a 32 qt tub. Warm side 88 degrees, cool side 75, his tub is in a extra bedroom, so it's always quiet
Thanks so much
Beth
