    (Overdue) Clutch announcement/photos! (DUW)

So, my pairing of Gerudo (Mojave) x Vrtra (Pinstripe) was what I'd call a success. 6 eggs laid, 6 eggs hatched. It wasn't necessarily a joyride, there was the whole ordeal with the larvae in the egg, but that baby made it out just fine and so did the rest.

One normal, one Pinstripe, one Mojave, and three Jigsaws. All but the normal have eaten at least a couple times at this point, and we finally sexed the ones that have eaten. I was really hoping to hold back a male Jigsaw, but that was apparently not in the cards, as all three Jigsaws are female. The Pinstripe and the Mojave are both male. I intend to just leave the normal alone as much as possible until I get a few meals into him/her, so despite being a beautiful little baby, pictures will have to wait. Anyway, here are my babies!

4theSNAKElady jokingly refers to this baby as "Maggot" because of her encounter with the larvae in her egg. I'm extremely happy to say that she doesn't seem any worse for wear compared to her siblings as a result of that issue. Her yellows aren't quite as bright as the other two Jigsaws, (partial sunlight while I had her out didn't help that either) but she does have the same perfect dorsal stripe and jacked up side pattern.

This little boy has some bright yellows and some deep browns. Somehow I think he's a prettier Mojave than his momma.

For a Pinstripe, he's pretty dark, although not quite as dark as these pictures suggest. I think he's getting ready to shed again soon. He does have a nice yellow tint to his belly, and his side pattern is almost as messed up as his Jigsaw sisters'. Also like his sisters, but definitely more pronounced, is the weird pattern at the base of his neck. I don't know what to say about it, other than that I love it.

I was out of town the day this one came out of her egg. I fell in love with her pattern the moment I saw her picture, and then Nate told me she had already tried to bite him. I liked that about her. When I finally saw her in person for the first time, she was striking non-stop at me as well, and I decided right then and there that I was keeping her. She's full of spit and vinegar, and she's the only one of the clutch so far to take frozen/thawed, I suspect because she's so fiery. Seriously, she's ready to take my face off every time I look at her. She's also bright and beautiful and I can't let anybody else have her. These pictures are pretty true to her actual color. She has a perfect dorsal stripe and the most reduced side pattern of the clutch.

This girl has the opposite personality of my holdback. She's shy and timid and took the longest to get to eat. I think she's prettier than number 1 but not as pretty as number 5, with the same perfect stripe and a different kind of reduced/jacked up pattern.

There was lots of tongue-flicking and adorable baby snake-ness while I was taking their pictures. Also, one escaped (and returned) baby cat. I'm so excited to see these babies grow up!

    Thanks for looking!
