I finally have babies out of the reduced pattern female I have. I bought her back in 2012 at about 1200g as a "proven" breeder, however this is the first year I bred her. She has a reduced pattern, clean belly, and head stamp. Overall she has a much lighter color than most normals - more of a yellowish than a tan. I was hoping to get babies that look like her, and I wasn't disappointed. She was bred to a yellowbelly male, and I hatched 1.2 normals and 0.2 yellowbellies. Sadly, one yellowbelly had several spinal kinks and died before first shed.
The yellowbellies look typical, though a little oranger than you usually see. However, all three normal have head stamps, reduced pattern with flames, and a very orange coloring coming halfway up their sides. It's something that's obvious in person, but very hard to capture in a picture. It wasn't real apparent until after they had shed. I took a couple of each of the normal babies, and a couple of mom as well. She is of course in shed when I wanted pics, so i'll post others of her in a day or so.
I am definitely keeping the male back to breed back to the mom in a year, but I wanted to see if anyone else has seen the type of orange these guys have, and whether it tends to be something that brightens or dulls with age. I'm curious to see if anyone has any breeding suggestions for the future with these guys.
