The Mario was discovered in 2012 from a “Normal” x Pastel clutch. Out of five eggs, two Marios, two Pastels, and a possible Mario Pastel hatched out. That 50/50 ratio led us to believe that one of the parents was carrying another gene.
The same pairing was repeated in 2013 which resulted in the same ratios as the previous year.
In 2014 one of the Mario males from the 2012 clutch was bred to a virgin normal female. Out of nine eggs, six were Marios and 3 were normals.
After doing extensive research and talking to multiple industry experts, two morphs kept coming up, the “Jungle Woma” and the “Josie.” All of them seem to have identical characteristics and variances in markings. The Mario could be another line of Jungle Woma or Josie but without test breeding it would be incorrect to refer to the Mario as a previously established morph. Future plans include those test breedings as well as taking another shot at the super form...the Super Mario.
