Blizzard Corn Snake (my first corn!)

Well, apparently I'm just not having any luck with Ball Pythons, because both times I've gone in meaning to get a Ball... I end up with something else LOL I have my Jungle Carpet, but my sister is wary around him and wanted a snake to care for and handle. Because we'll be living together this summer and for the next year at least, I figured why not? Both our minds immediately went to BPs, but I realized that given her knack for becoming disinterested in pets and her iffy sense of responsibility, a hardier snake would do. Of course, I'd always be there to make sure that the snake is never anything but fully content, safe, and healthy, but even then it'd be good to stack the odds in our favor.

Finally found the corn snake we were looking for - a gorgeous adult blizzard (2010 male) and he arrived at the doorstep yesterday morning!

He is partially my sister's first snake, and partially mine as well. She'll be caring for him and I'll be there to make sure nothing goes wrong. We are both impressed by his temperament and he's absolutely adorable!! I couldn't resist taking a few pictures, but made sure not to crowd him. He was only held for a few minutes while we made sure everything was set up in his enclosure, though he insisted on exploring my hands and hair.

The box arrived right on time, around 10:20 AM

annnnd there he is! We may or may not have squealed. He's a 2010 blizzard corn snake!

    Gorgeous color

We were checking temps and everything in the enclosure, so I held onto him for a bit

Threw in an empty paper towel tube on a whim, and of course that's his hide of choice...

I'll admit though, it's ridiculously cute

We still have a few more things we'll be adding to the enclosure, especially as we see what he does and doesn't use. For now, we'll just leave him be for the next couple of weeks, and after he's had a feeding or two, I'll get more pictures!

And a Ball Python will DEFINITELY be next (I think).
