i used to have may snakes back in high school. A BP, red tail, Burmese, Cali kings, and a gecko. My wife said we could never have snakes because they are "disgusting". We all ready have a mini schnauzer named Bailey.
it all started a year ago. My wife saw the 100+ lb sulcata tortoise at my kids school. It is a mascot that goes where it pleases throughout the day. My wife had to have one. Picked one up named Ellie. She is probably 10 lbs or so.
just before Christmas this year my wife said we should get a lizard. I said, "why not a snake, it is just a lizard with no legs".Unbelievably, she said ok! I decided to get a BP because I had one before and it had a great temperament. I had no idea about morphs until I found a local breeder and surprisingly my wife fell in love with a firefly male so we picked him up. We named him Crankie Frankie because of how pissy he was the first week at home. He is now puppy dog tame and the wife and kids love to handle him daily!
we went to repticon a few weeks back and my 9 year old daughter made friends with a breeder at the show. I was surprised at how interested she was in genetics and breeding. After learning we could make white snakes by breeding our firefly to a fire, she had to have the fire female they were selling. She had saved some money so we let her buy the fire! My daughter named that one Dottie...
now we have plans to breed and my wife wants a cinnamon butter to breed to the firefly also. I am wanting a pied, just because, and we have even talked about buying a pair of adults so we can start breeding even sooner, lol
oh, I can't forget to mention the bearded dragon my wife bought this past saturday. It is a cool addition and really loves to be handled. She named it Ziggy...
it is amazing how things have changed in the past month as far as my wife's attitude toward snakes. Next is a sugar glider... I think we are going to start charging admission into our zoo.
