We got our first ball python back in November, and I've been lurking here (and anywhere else that gives great advice) ever since. I have a feeling it won't be long until we're adding another one--he's so docile, inquisitive, and fun to have around.
Here's Nigel when we first got him:
Here's his setup. The bedding has since been changed to be all ReptiBark mixed with shredded coconut fibers. UTH on his hot side with an overhead bulb for daytime and a ceramic at night. The temps are holding steady on the hot side at 85-90 degrees and humidity between 45-60%. It took some different enclosures and fiddling around with substrate to get everything just right, but he's eating consistently (started him on fuzzies but now he's on baby rats), had two perfect sheds, and pooping impressively, so it must be all right.
And here he is discovering my hoodie.
I know snakes can't be "happy" or "affectionate," but sometimes that's hard to believe when he's as lovable as he is! Thanks for looking.
