oh, i didnt know its a business with several employees. i nthat case, it would be better if he merely lost any and all ownership of the business and is barred from being involved with the reptile industry for a few years.

Those punishments listed are the max allowed for that crime. It is not guaranteed, and not the norm to get the max.
nah, drug dealers and smugglers go to prison. but in this case, what i said is, that it would be enough to put him on probation and keep him out of the reptile industry and out of reptile keeping for a few years, instead of putting him into prison for a few years. i dont see how this is harsher than what a drug dealer gets, the equivalent would be: taking away the drugs and the drug money and barring the person from involvement in the drug trade for a few years. which doesnt make sense because dealing drugs is illegal anyway, but you get the idea.
