About two weeks ago I had extraordinary luck and found a lesser butter mixed in with normals at Petco. I snatched him up, took him home, and lovingly named him Butterscotch. He adjusted well, loved being held, and was never once shy.
This Monday I come home and check on the snakes. I find he had died during the night. Butterscotch had an odd habit of wedging himself between the water dish and quarantine tank wall, laying out straight. This time it looked like he tried to get under the dish, got his head stuck under the weight of it, and perished there. Skull was deformed and soft, like it had been crushed. I didn't think to take pics, too gruesome. Anyone else hear of this happening with juvenile BPs? He was about 65 grams.
RIP Butterscotch, I am seriously bummed about your passing. You were mine for only two weeks but you were a little gorgeous sweetheart.
