Moving Help! Houston, TX to Phoenix, AZ
Hey, everyone!
I know it's been awhile, but things have been very busy around here lately. It's finally official that I've received and accepted my promotion and my wife and I will be moving back to the Phoenix area next week (Scottsdale actually). Everything else aside, I have questions about the logistics of moving my small collection across the country. Here's the important information:
1) The girls are all younger than a year, weighing between 198 and 880g.
2) The two T8s, humidifier, and space heater will be going onto the moving truck (unless shipped via FedEx or otherwise), which will be loaded on October 14th and scheduled to arrive in AZ with a delivery window of the 18th-25th.
3) The BPs will be going in the cars with us, leaving on October 15th and taking either one or two days to make the drive to AZ before arriving at our new place on either the 15th or the 16th. We would be staying in a hotel if splitting the trip into two days.
My questions are as follows:
1) During this week leading up to the move, is it best to not feed them to avoid any unnecessary BMs, etc, during the move? Thursday would be 3/4's feeding day, with them all being fed on this past Sunday.
2) What is the best way to pack them up securely for the trip? What about husbandry needs during this time (temp, humidity, etc)?
3) Without the T8s for almost two full weeks (worst case scenario), what is the best way to take care of their husbandry needs once we arrive in our new place?
4) What else haven't I thought of that needs to be considered?
5) Do you have any alternative ideas on the best way for them to make the transition easier?
Thank you for your help in advance. We can't wait to be back in the Valley living closer to family once again!
Best regards,
Eric
