So my wife and I were debating on ways to teach my daughter responsibility when taking care of animals and decided to get her a guinea pig (what she chose). We found one on craigslist with a full setup for dirt cheap and then rescued two others that were in a bad situation. Patches and Fluffy were in an incredibly filthy environment, had matted fur, desperate need of a bath, no hide in the cage, the list goes on. We only wanted to get one but being the type that couldn't just leave one behind in such horrid conditions we ended up taking them both home. We got them both cleaned up, trimmed, to include having to cut out some matting on Fluffy. Everyone is doing just awesome. So now fast forward about a month and a half. Both my wife and I have been noticing that Patches was getting very big. Well turns out she was pregnant. Because we didn't know how old she was, guessing under 6 months, we took her to the vet to make sure everything was OK. Vet stated as long as she looks and acts healthy the only concerns would be during the birthing of the pups. He estimated no more than 2 weeks to go though. So today my family went to the Vernon County Fair for most of the day only to come home to a little wonderful surprise. Patches had a little girl! Momma and Baby are doing great. I will post a picture here shortly.
