egg movement, day 48
This is my first clutch. About 4 1/2 years ago I acquired a large "female" normal, who I got nice and healthy, got her out of her bad sheds and had her a lot more "social" after about a year. I then discovered bp.net and thought I'd try my hand as a hobbyist at breeding. I did my research and decided to go with a "cheap" snake, and see how it went. I purchased an adult Spider, spent a bunch of money and time trying to do everything by the book.. They must have locked 20 times or so and most times for days....well she didn't go...tried again the next season...no luck. Gave up. Then out of nowhere I wanted to try again so last season I decided I'd acquire another female, thinking maybe the previous livelihood of my normal was detrimental to her fertility. Well, I decided to breed my normal again with the same spider, and also breed him to my pastel. I'd do three days on(usually only about 24 hours) and then three days off, then back to the pastel, then to the normal. so the ratio was spider x pastel twice : spider x normal once.
Anyhow, one day I noticed what looked like a spur stuck in my big normal's cloaca, I soaked her and it came out a little, but then it started looking more like a sperm plug -_____- the biggest sperm plug i've ever seen actually. There was never any combat, just lots of snake sex. so I tried popping the normal, and nothing came out except the plug...about the length of my index finger lol(about 3500g snake). so i was just like oh cool. So on one cleaning day i put them together for a sec while in a quick bind and having the gf's two cats around...alll hell broke loose. it was weird...
Anyway, I stopped pairing to the normal and focused on the bumblebee project because at this point I was super excited that i had a legit female to go with my male spider. after the longest breeding season ever, she ended up giving me five good eggs(she was a virgin) and today is day 48. I've been so excited through this entire journey and tonight I decided to candle and see what I would come up with. COOLEST THING EVER, movement in the eggs
Here's the vid, I believe the first one is my bumblebee and I can't tell any of the others. I would be happy with just one though, I dont even care...lol
sorry for the long post, but after almost 5 years of attempting to hatch a dang snake, I'm stoked.
check it out...
