    mites or something else?

in my kitchen, two or three times now, i've noticed the tiniest bugs you can imagine around my sink fixture - they look like walking dust. i've cleaned them up with bleach and hot water, put some cleansing powder down so they can't walk, problem basically solved. Yesterday, while checking on my snakes, I noticed three of these same bugs in one snake tub. I was under the impression mites looked like poppy seeds (thats what Kevin said in his book) - do these sound like mites? Of course I went crazy and sprayed with PAM, but I'm wondering if these could be a different kind of bug? The bugs are brownish looking and are under or near 1mm.

not my photo but they look like this - http://0.tqn.com/w/experts/Entomolog.../Bugs-sink.jpg
