    Light Cycles

I understand ball pythons do not need/require light and usually light that is naturally provided (e.g. from a bedroom window) is more than sufficient. For those that do have provide a direct light source what cycles do you provide through out the year? Currently mine are on a 12 hour on/off cycle. I was wondering if certain parts of the year if it would be more optimal to provide a 8 hour on 16 off cycle for example.
