Proud Mommy
My ball python, Daenerys, ate her first medium mouse last night! It was right up there with one of the absolute coolest things that I have EVER WITNESSED in my life.
As she grasped onto the head of the frozen mouse I was dangling in front of her with tongs, I was simply amazed, in awe of her, and impressed. She swallowed that sucker like a champ! It is really neat how a snake can compensate (to a reasonable degree, of course) for their prey! My husband took pictures (with the flash off, of course). I shared them proudly to my facebook where only one person, a fellow Herp lover, actually liked my picture. Everyone else said they were a bit grossed out by my pictures. However, I thought the whole experience was (and still is) so awesome. I am proud of my ball python. Especially since getting my snake, I realize that our scaly friends do not get as much love in the world as their furry counterparts.
It is such a shame, really. People are missing out. I love my snake. I also adore my beardie. I would choose them any day over any other pet. Yes, someday, I will get a family dog for my kiddos. However, I can proudly say, I am a herp lady.
Think about it: How many people can say, "Forget Animal Planet! Come over to my house to see some real "you know what"!". Ha!!
- The thoughts of a proud, beaming ball python mommy (my snake I just got only less than 5 days ago!).
P.S. I uploaded pictures of her first meal in my gallery on my profile. I gotta show her off!
