    They are adjustable so you can raise it or lower it to the needed height. Having it adjusted to provide the correct temp my tub lids do not get to hot.
    Do you have a recommendation for dome size and bulb wattage that works for you?

    I was also thinking as a last resort to cut a small square in the lid (maybe 2.5" x 2.5") and place mesh between in, and then place a heat dome with a dimmer directly over that...crank the bulb down so it's very dim, and that might be adequate, but then it would also let light in...so I like you guy's idea better.
