I don't know what happened. He was fine yesterday and was cruising around. Today i noticed that he hadn't fully shed like he usually does, so I pulled him out and was going to start soaking. He started open mouth breathing, it sounded bad, like a really bad gurgle. I brought him out of the tub, and he emptied his bowels on the floor. It was runny. I immediately called the exotic vet, and they were closed. This was around 8. Their answering machine suggested calling the 24/7 vet.
I immediately brought him in. I sped the entire way there, going over the speed limit and cursing at every single red light. We got there, and we immediately had a room. Doesn't help I was bawling my face off. They took him to the back and it seemed like hours before the doctor came. He admitted he didn't have much reptile experience an suggested Boo stay overnight and he'd be transferred in the morning to the exotic vet. I couldn't afford it. They wanted over $600 for him to stay and have oxygen. I took him home, not before calling the exotic vet an telling them it was an emergency and I'd need an appointment ASAP.
At approximately 2:30 I noticed he was at the front of his enclosure. I opened it and brought him out. He died in my arms.
Boo: you were the one that started it all. The one that made me fall in love. I feel so empty and broken. I feel like I failed you, and I hope you are in a better place my baby. I love you so much. I'm thankful I was there for your last moments.. I miss you so much already.
R.i.p. my baby
