I've been pairing Bubbles (female, Axanthic) with Yellow Dude (male, Killerbee het Axanthic) since November when he went off his food, Bubbles also decided to stop eating around the end of November. I have seen them lock twice, and have had reasonable cause to suspect other locks that I've missed. Yellow Dude is back on the food, takes a rat a week like a little champ, Bubbles is still not eating. She's still sitting at 1800g, the same as she has been since Nov. I offer her food once a week (same as all my snakes), she's very interested in the prey, gets in a striking position, but never actually does it. If I leave it in overnight (she's a fresh kill feeder) she'll move it around but not eat it. I tried offering live once, this got less of a reaction than fresh killed, she just ignored it. Mice get the same response as rats, interested but no strike. I'm not quite to the freak out stage yet since her weight is solid (although I'm getting curious what exactly she's metabolizing to stay alive), but I'm wondering if I should be? Husbandly looks good to me, AP rack, with hides, fresh water always, room at 80-82, hot spot is 90-92 (measured with temp gun and spot checks with accurite), humidity at 45% (I move the bowl to get to 65% if there's a shed coming) everyone else is eating. Am I missing something? It's my first breeding season so I'm not sure if it's normal for a female to not eat like this? When I see other threads about females pounding rats I get concerned.
