Okay, I know I've been spamming the forum lately but I'm having a rough time with my newest rescue. My apologies.
So I was speaking with a vet friend today and she says my newest rescue (a female BP about 1100-1200 grams) is suffering from second degree burns that she acquired somehow with her previous owner. She recommended soaking her twice a day in a light Betadine/water solution for 10 minutes to help the burns. Because this new rescue has also graciously brought some mites along with her, the vet also suggested adding a few drops of Dawn dish soap to the solution to drown off some of the mites. She says it would be best to avoid chemically treating the mites until her burn has healed, which makes sense.
Another friend has suggested using a lice shampoo called "Nix" mixed with water to kill off the mites on my snakes and in their enclosures. He says it worked great for him.
I'm just wondering...would treating this poor rescued BP with both a Nix solution and a Betadine solution cause any issues? I certainly don't want to make things worse. Lately I've been keeping all my snakes on paper towel, baking and bleaching their rock hides and water dishes, soaking the snakes in warm water, and scrubbing the heck out of their enclosures.
Any suggestions??
