    So uh...Funny story....

So after 3 years of living on my own/with my boyfriend, I'm back at my mom's living in her basement that we fixed up (yeah I know I sound like a loser, not though, I swear LOL).

She knows I'm an animal lover and she always has been too. Luckily my boyfriend has given up any hope of controlling my zoo so he's fine with whatever. I have 5 bearded dragons and the 1 BP who is the newest addition to the house, in my room lined up in critter condos against the wall. My mom never bothered to ask what was in the one "darker" cage (while the other 5 have UVBs and heat lights blaring). She trusts my judgement to handle my own animals and self.

So up until yesterday, Atticus the BP was a secret. His frozen rat pups lay secretly in her freezer on the bottom drawer, and his presence was kept low-key. She isn't AFRAID of snakes, but slightly freaked out. She is most grossed out by the rats being killed, but luckily my little guy loves his f/t. I figured she would find out one day about my newest "son" ... and that day finally came.

It started out with her coming downstairs during dragon feeding time . She asked what was in the darker cage, and why I wasn't feeding that "poor dragon." I stopped, and smiled, trying to think of what to tell her . She started off with "....it IS another lizard, right?" to which I replied "...Well.....you could probably call it a total amputee lizard....somewhat...ummmm...." And at that point she knew I had a new creature. We both laughed, and I sheepishly brought out Atticus. Her jaw dropped, and she started with a million questions about if he was venomous (OMG he's bright yellow!) and if his bites hurt and how big he was going to get. After about 45 seconds she was holding him, cuddled up against her chest.

Pretty funny, I got lucky she didn't lose her cool yet in the 23 years I've been supporting my own zoo....LMAO
