Can you guys even BELIEVE these odds, because I CAN'T!!!!
This has been a pretty long project for us and it has finally come full circle. In 2008 we bought an adult albino female (for $1400 :S); our second ball python, and bred her about 4 months after getting her:
She was paired with our original spider male (from Mike @ Hidebox; reptilealien):

and she produced a clutch of 6 eggs. It was slightly disappointing for our first ever BP clutch. One het. Albino hatchling emerged with most of it's yolk unabsorbed and a twisted umbilical cord and did not make it. Another Spider 100% het. Albino hatched with what appeared to be a pretty severe kink. We gave him away to my cousin and she still has him. His kink is barely noticeable and he is gorgeous! We got 3 more 100% het. Albinos. 2 we traded away for an adult BRB (who we have since sold) and one was sold to a friend. As well as that, we got another Spider 100% het. Albino, and he is a SERIOUS looker. So so so in love with him.
Here is a baby photo:

And him as an adult (breeding a het. Albino female, who has not yet proved out):

So anyways, we held him back, grew him up, and now we have a clutch of his, that is finishing hatching as we speak. This clutch is not actually from our original albino female, but a second one that we picked up in Feb 2012. There is one more baby to emerge, and that will be it for our 2011/2012 season!
But you know when you're really really hoping for a certain morph, and the clutch starts hatching, and then you just get this sinking, niggling feeling of "ohhhhh, don't get your hopes up, there's a pretty good chance you won't get what you want?" Well I definitely felt that, even though for the duration of incubation I just had a really good feeling we would hatch the desired morph. This was definitely our most exciting clutch ever, with it being our first potential for hatching a double morph, and on top of that, it was a dominant/recessive morph we were after.
Well the first egg pipped; a cute, very nice albino. The second egg pipped, and it was our double!!! We got our spider albino!!! I was FLOORED. Over the moon happy!!! I'm not going to lie I definitely squealed and did a little dance. But when the third egg pipped, and it was another Spider Albino, I about died. I believe I actually said out loud" Oh wow are you kidding me!?" then some boring het. Albinos hatched...and THEN the last egg....
IT'S ANOTHER #$*@&%^ SPIDER ALBINO!?!?!!??!
That brings this clutch to
0.0.3 Spider Albinos
0.0.1 Albino
0.0.2 het. Albinos
To say I'm over the moon is an understatement. I honestly cannot even believe this.
I could not possibly be happier with the way this season went here at Squamish Serpents.
THANK YOU if you read all this crazy babbling, but I will reward you with some pictures once the last baby has come out. CANNOT WAIT until these ones have their first sheds!!
