I've finally got my interim cage set up for my bearded dragon, it is an AP T12 (4' x 2' x 2') with 2x 8.5 inch circle screens cut into the top, and added fans for ventilation. This was a long overdue upgrade from a 20 long but I had a hard time getting things dialed in. This cage is just to hold me over until I get my bearded dragon cage from AP but that is still a few months out at least. The new cage will be bigger and will have more ventilation so hopefully I don't have to run fans all the time.
The cage has a hot spot of 105 with a hot side ambient of 95 the cool side stays between 80-85 during the day and drops into the low-mid 70's at night. Like before my Herpstat ramps into and from the day temperature over 6 hours so there aren't ever any drastic temperature changes (the temperatures change at an approximate rate of 6.5 degrees per hour) Humidity is staying in the upper 30's on the cool side and lower on the hot side.
For now I am sticking with paper towels for substrate but when I get the new cage I will be installing ceramic tiles or slate.
The cage has a shallow water dish that my little girl will sit in and normally has a dish with fresh greens as well.
Fans are low RPM high CFM and help keep the humidity levels down, prevent stagnant air, and keep the cool side cool.
The cage has a 36" Zoo-Med Reptisun 10.0 bulb mounted to the ceiling.
Let me know what you think and if I should add/change anything.
Thanks.
