I have a small male ball python I just noticed is making some wheezing noises when he breathes. He has a little bit of mucus in his nostrils I noticed when looking closer at him. He is on the bottom row which might be some of the issue however none of the other snakes have any issues at all even the two on the same row as him. He isn't a new snake, have had him for five or six months now. He just ate on the 19th without issue.
I use paper towels as substrate
hot spot of 87
cool side at 80
humidity at 60%
He is in a 12 qt tub
He is on a rack ran with belly heat tape which has a herpstat controlling the temps
His tub has holes in it and hasn't had condensation on the walls
I clean tubs daily, replacing the paper towels if they are wet or dirty.
Can you find anything wrong with the set up? Something I do not have spot on? Also what should I do? Is it serious enough that I need to take him to see the vet or can I treat this at home. The closest herp vet is 50 miles one way so I really do not want to make a trip just to hear I should bump the temps.
I have pulled him from the rack and he is on his own heat pad away from the other snakes. Bumping up his temps to around the 90 to 93. The only thing I can possibly think of is that he has a different hide than everyone else. It's an Exo Terra Snake Cave so I am thinking maybe it didn't transfer the heat very well. I have removed it from his tub and given him a normal hide like everyone else.
Thanks for the help
