BPnet Veteran
fustrated....
ok to make a long story short, my bp is now at 820g. Before the issue i had with wood mites a few months back, he was a beast eating, in fact when i got him at 175g, he was eating mice like a monster, after he got to about 500, he was guzzling down 70g rats no problem! anyways he has fed on rats before, then he turned one down, so it was back to mice, 2 per feeding until he reached 700+ i keep trying rats and he wont take them, but he will show extreme interest in them, in one feeding he did a strike and miss then just quit and went into his hide. Ok so i had the issue with the wood mites and he was quarantined and did not feed for a month or so while i got my hands on PAM. After he was clear of mites, he was back on mice, now he takes mice down, but not as aggressively as before the mite situation. The last feeding was about 8 days ago, and it was 2 small mice.
A hiding bp is a happy bp right? well the last 3 days he was been very active and have had his body half out of his hide, i figuere he was hungry and sure enough it was that, because when i took the water dish out of his enclosure (thats his queu to know its feeding time) within seconds he was out in his S position, this time i figuered i try a rat again since he is probably very hungry, no dice. He showed alot of intered but as soon as the rat would get in his face he was run away into his hide, only to come back out of his hide flicking his tongue and going crazy searching as if he was hungry, only to, once he face the rat, back away. So it was this back and forth, showing interest hunting down the rat only to once the rat got in his face he would run away. I got tired of this after a half hour and just got rid of the rat. He is right now as we speak, 20 minutes or so after i got the rat out of there still looking around all interested and acting hungry. I just scream at his "STOP ACTING LIKE YOUR HUNGRY AND WILL EAT, YOU HAD YOUR FREAKING CHANCE AND YOU DIDT TAKE HIM!!!!"
sorry, it just he really gets me mad when he does this, i mean, atleast show no interest in the rat, then i can understand, ill just take the rat out and try mice in a week, but the fact that he shows sooooo much interest then just turns it down, i dont understand. If he is a mouser, then should't he be showing no interest in the rat at all after the first encounter? Why is he running away then coming back?
