A Helping Hand for ProExotics...

First off, I'd to explain why we removed earlier links regarding donations for PE. Primarily, this is due to the fact that it is against our standard policy to allow ANY solicitations for charitable donations without first getting admin approval. None was sought or given. Also, I wanted to personally coordinate with the guys at PE to make sure we were supporting them in the way that is best for THEM and not just an emotional reaction to make us feel better.

After exchanging some words with Robyn, I am comfortable with the link provided earlier by Pitoon and am happy to share it here. Robyn also gave me a sort of "press release" that I can share with everyone. This includes Pitoon's donation site, as well as a link to PE's own paypal, for those who might feel more comfortable with a direct donation.

Chad, Robyn, Andy, Nicci, Jimmy, the entire staff at Pro Exotics Reptiles are overwhelmed and humbled by the outpouring of love and support from the reptile community after our recent fire. We have suffered a total loss of our snake collection, and 97% devastation to our business. 20 years of passion and work has been erased in a moment. We face a long and hard road back to success.

We have received offers of aid, fundraising, cards of support, emails and calls from around the world. Unfortunately we are not in a position to accept any animals or caging at this time, we have literally no place to put them, our building is gone. If you would like to make a donation or show of support online, we would bow our heads and so graciously accept them. The reptile community has simply been amazing. We deeply appreciate each of you, and we know that in the future, we will pay it forward.

It feels very odd to accept help, especially funds, from others. It goes against my instincts. But over the past few days, I have realized that it is not just about ME, it is about US as a community. I know how great I feel when I give to others, it is what I most enjoy in the world. To be humble and gracious and allow others to give to our team in this time of need is a part of the process, a part of the grieving and support process for everyone, and it is important that I respect that. But wow, it is so humbling, so powerful, it really touches my heart.
