Usually, how long does it take for a pastel to lose it's bright color and turn to ugly(imo) brown?

they don't always, it depends on the parents. i've seen pastels hold their colors in adulthood. My pastel is 2 years old and when he sheds he's still pretty bright. IMO BP's are never as pretty as they are when they are babies.
