While I can somewhat agree with what your saying about it being silly to call one line of reduced/banded balls tigers, the Jolliff tigers were around for years before the desert mutation was discovered, proven, then combined with enchi to make the new tigers. It doesn't really seem fair to me that the original tigers essentially have had their name usurped, especially considering the length of time that name had been established. Just because people might not consider that particular mutation all too significant doesn't really seem a good enough reason for it to have to give up its name to whatever designer mutation comes along that some people think deserve it more. Just like you said, there are so many other names that we can choose for them - why take a name that already belongs to another ball python mutation?
