This is my first clutch of the year and my first clutch ever! This is from a Black Pastel x Normal pairing. The Black Pastel is actually the son of this Dame. The reason I bred them together is that they both have some "Pied" markers. I don't really think I'll hatch out pieds from their pairing but I sure would love some sweet Black Pastel females!
This is the big female about a week before she laid her eggs.
Female laying one of her eggs.
Big momma sitting on top of 5 of her 8 eggs. I think she accidentally left out those other 3 because she was also sitting on top of a slug and I'm not so sure she could fit her body around all 8 eggs. All 3 eggs candled good as well.
The eggs & single slug before being moved into their egg box.
The eggs setup in their egg box. I use the egg crate & water only method.
Candling one of the eggs showing that it has healthy veins.
The female after she laid her eggs. She weighed about 2,400 grams before laying her eggs, she now weighs 1,600 grams completely empty.
This morning I noticed she was roaming for food, so she will likely get 2 big medium rats (her preferred weekly meal).
Here's a picture of the sire from 2010:
