Keep in mind that I am discussing normals/hets and visual single-gene Pieds ONLY. A lot of other visual morphs seem to destroy this "marker" from what I've been able to discern.

I've been paying attention to this particular neck pattern for a few months now. Just about every single visual Pied that I've seen has had some variation of this, and many of the neck patterns actually connect with the two lines on the face. My three don't complete the connection, but they come pretty close.

I don't think I've seen any Het Pied neck patterns connect with the face, but quite a few do start splitting off into the Y pattern. That is the reason for this post, and also why I've remarked that a few of your "normals" might be Het Pieds in a few your picture threads.

Here are two of my Het Pied girls. They both have the neck pattern. My third Het girl doesn't have the pattern, but has the train tracks. One of these two girls has both the neck pattern and the tracks.

I have been paying attention to the "normal" pics and other non-Pied hets that people have been posting on here and other sites to see if this is just a common pattern, but I don't believe that it is. I think that this potential marker is similar to the train tracks in that it doesn't appear to show in every Het Pied. In fact, from what I've seen, this pattern shows up in a minority of Het Pieds.

Where I believe it is different from the train tracks is that it doesn't appear to show up in non-Het Pieds. I am of the opinion that those few "normals" that have this pattern are in fact "possible" het pieds that were just sold as normals. It could even be that one of the parents is Het for Pied, unbeknownst to the breeder.

So what do you think? Do you have any Hets that have this pattern? Do you have "normals" that have this pattern?

Is this something that has been discussed and disproved already?
