Stuck shed for at least a week. Whole head/neck. What to do?

My BP has a lot of stuck shed still on his head/neck area. It has been a week, maybe two. I've tried soaking him briefly a few times, added a damp rag, sprayed his tank multiple times each day. I figured if I kept it up it would go away and I did not think there was any danger to waiting.

I called the pet store where I got him and they said they could help, but it's a really long drive so that is out unless it is an emergency, and I didn't think it was. I was trying to find some info online and read somewhere it can kill the skin underneath the stuck shed

I just fed him yesterday but what I need to know is how do I get it off, and is he in any danger? This is his first shed with me and it feels like it has been going on for forever. He is my first BP and when I had cornsnakes if I waited and misted it would always come off.

    Thanks!
