Hi all,
This is my first post here after about a week and a half of reading. I got a six month old captive bred normal ball python. I have wanted one since I was a kid and after visiting the zoo decided it would be a great time. :@)
I got a 20gal Terarium with an under heat pad and a dual light fixtures kne for day/basking and one red infrared for the night. Black Aspen bedding two coconut hides and rock water bowl and some moss for humidity as well as a beachwood tree thing for her to climb.
I have had her now for 48 hours the first day she ( I just assume she is a she for. Reasons of not calling her an it) she was really active checking her her new home. At first I had a wooden tree hide that she was not fond of and preferred being between it and the glass but after readingon her I adhered and she now loves her new hides. Temps are 90-92 hot aide and 85-86 cool side. Humidity is about 30-40%. I put black paper arous all sides except the front to make her feel more secure. I do have a couple questions.
1. I know the humidity needs to be higher what's the best way to do that/ misting techs. I have moss in there already I was thinking about putting. Warm damp towl above half the screened top.
2. Since the new hide she has settled in the cool side coconut hide and has not left it's been so far about 12 hours that I can tell. Is this normal I think it is but I'm being a worry wart lol.
3. I'm going to try and feed her on Sunday 7days after I got her. When should I start trying to handle her to let her get a little more comfy around me? When I last held her ( while putting new hides in) she seemed relatively relaxed and just stayed curled around my hand.
I'm thrilled and feel like I might have a new addiction lol. She is very healthy alert and beautiful!
Thanks :@)
