this is the accu-rite model i aquired. i have a question about it & was hoping someone here also has this model and can help me figure out the question i have. first the picture of it...
my issue (if it would even be considered an issue)
the top part displays time (and apparently a temp too), the middle displays a temp that is measured with a cord and probe (why the need to display 2 different temps?) & the bottom displays a humidity percentage.
i noticed last night when i was applying the new velcro to the back of it, the top # changed from time to a temperature when i accidently pressed the temp/clock button. the thing is, the cord that was attached to the unit measured temps with a probe but i cut that off since i use a temp gun to measure my temps (dont worry, i double checked with the company's technical support to make sure that snipping that cord off wouldn't affect the unit's ability to measure humidity, it doesn't so i'm good. plus, that cord would've been more of a hassle anyways)
now, i've set the time so we're good there, the middle display says "LO" all the time cuz thats where the corded temp # would be but i cut that off so...yeah & my bottom is displaying a humidity percentage.
my issue is, how was that thing able to display a temperature when i cut the cord off?
ok i JUST now caught that i was just explaining the whole thing about the cord and the top being able to display a temp as well but here's where my confusion comes in, the info/packaging did not say anything about a temperature sensor inside the unit...i've read here before, about the accurites being able to take 2 different temps...
is one of those temps the ambient temp?
i hope i havent confused anyone with all this but i'm pretty stumped right now...
