    Question about feeding

I have this mojave male from 09. So far I can say that he's the best BP I have ever had, he has never refused a meal and always eats with a ferocious appetite. I feed him about every 7 days, but have done 10 days a few times depending on when the food was available. He eats F/T rats and is now on something between small and medium, so about the size of his body.

When I got him back in April he was probably around 300g. He was 805g when I weighed him empty 2 weeks ago. I don't want him to become a fat male because I would like to breed him next year (he already has plugs but I don't have a ready female this year).

I tried to reduce his feedings to every 2 weeks since he eats fairly big rats, but when I put him in the feeding box yesterday he reached out to me before I even had the rat near. lol He was very hungry. Seems like he knows that when he is in that box it's feeding time.

My question I guess is what should I do about the feedings? I don't want him to become fat, but I don't want to starve him either. Should I feed more often and smaller size rat or keep him on the small/med rats every other week? Also what is the average weight of a healthy fully grown adult male ?
