We took Nergs to the vet today. They were very nice and extremely thorough. They were examining him for about 20-30 minutes (I was shocked). The veterinarian looked in his eye with a light and magnifying glass, and even put some "Stain" drops in his eye (to see if there were any abrasions), and there was just the one in the corner of his eye. She said she thinks we got very lucky and he only got a surface abrasion, it didn't puncture.
Just in case, she gave us some eye drops to put in his eyes 3 times a day for 5 days. If we have any questions we can call.
She noted when we took him out that he was well fed, not fat, but healthy. I've been curious to find out how much he weighs, and guess what? She weighed him...
HE'S 1 POUND, 1 OUNCE!!!! Wow!!!!!
He got huge!
I'm so happy and relieved. Taking him there was a great idea. They made us feel really good, and not silly for bringing a snake to a vet.
I will definitely bring my business back to that same vet if need be, because they were awesome.
The whole visit, for anyone worried about prices for their own snake, was only $84, including the eye drops. It wasn't bad at all, and best of all, Nergal is ok.
