BACKGROUND INFO:

When I was a wee lad I purchased 2 BP's. They lived together for several years, and shared a hide (a pc of wood which I purchased from a local store).

Now, as an older lad with a bit more wisdom about snakes have moved the 2 snakes into separate tanks.

ISSUE:

The snakes will not hide under anything other then that pc of wood - which is fine except that I only have 1 pc of wood, and 2 snakes! I have tried plastic tubs, other pcs of wood and exo-terra preformed 'caves'.... The snakes will lay next to them, on top of them, near them.. but not under them. If I switch out any of the above with the original pc of wood they lived with for years they gladly move under it as if to say "FINALLY - this is what I want!"

So - this being said - has anyone else ever heard of this type of problem?

I'm not sure now if I should just leave another hide in there and hope that they eventually go under it - or remove the hide all together.

I use UTH - so if they don't actually lay on the floor of the tank, they don't get the heat properly.

ideas?
