I have this BP that I've had for over a year now and we named him Craig cause we got him off of craigslist. We took him into a reptile store here in Vegas and got him sexed as a male. They probed him right in front of us, and being as that was the time I had decided to learn about breeding, I had no idea what the difference was.
Now that I am a little more experienced, we decided to learn how to probe a couple weeks ago. I've probed ALL my snakes now and have gotten very accurate results. All my boys probed boys for me and all my girls probe girl. EXCEPT for this one.
When I probed him I only got 4 subcaudals and it stopped. So I took him back into the store and they probed him and got the same 4 I got and told me anything over 3 is a male. Is this right? EVERYWHERE I've read said 2-4 is a female and 6-10 is a male. So what is my curious 4? Should I take him/her out of the tank with the other males? Im worried if I put him/her in with females, he might actually be a male and get one of them pregnant. I've tried popping him, but Im still very new at that and he doesnt want to cooperate, and Im not going to force it. I have my other male him size who as soon as you touch his vent, he pops himself for you hahaha Guess he's in the mood hahaha
Also, what sex is it if you probed 5 scales? Since its right in between female and male, Im just curious in case I ever run into that.
